Of course, you can defend your property as ; long as you don't use physical means, you must just persuade him.

Sounds about the same guidelines as the British police.

I well remember my wife being warned about putting barbed wire along the top of out back gate, to deter intruders.

Police said such intruders could be injured!

People in the States will find this hard to understand.
