The Pat Tillman Award

I am posting this here as I am unsure where else to post it.
@Matrix if you find a better place for it, please feel free to move it.

I am freaking ropable, this award is supposed to go to an unsung hero, not an attention-seeking publicity whore like Harry Windsor.
Pat's mother and a petition of over 75K people were against Windsor getting this award.
Granted the manchild accepted it on behalf of Invictus, but did he hand the veterans there to receive it? Hell No!!!

Bunker Harry the fake soldier, the traitor the disgusting liar who could not even acknowledge the two Marines who gave their lives to protect him in Afghanistan while he played his Xbox, didn't mention a word about them.

The manchild who broke international army law by revealing his death count and referred to them as Chess board pieces.

What did he mention losing his mother again, yep, he played the Diana card yet again, so that Mrs Tillman would understand that he feels her pain!

This to a woman who was completely against him getting the award, was patronised.

He spoke of how this award was for the veterans of Invictus, yet he didn't have any of those veterans up there, nor did mention that the idea behind the Invictus games was stolen from the U.S.A. Warrior games.

I am beside myself in anger!

Prince Harry accepts Pat Tillman Award for Service at 2024 ESPYs despite major backlash: ‘We will leave no one behind’

Prince Harry officially received the Pat Tillman Award for Service at this year’s ESPYs Thursday night — after the late hero’s mother said she was “shocked” it was going to the “controversial and divisive individual.”

The Duke of Sussex, 39, attended the star-studded ceremony in Los Angeles with wife Meghan Markle, 42, at his side. The event was hosted by her close pal and 23-time Grand Slam title winner Serena Williams.

A visibly emotional Harry was introduced by veterans and past Tillman Award winners and Invictus athletes Marine Sgt. Kirstie Ennis, Army Sgt. Elizabeth Marks and US Air Force Master Sgt. Israel Del Toro Jr, for his work with the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014 and provides athletic and healing opportunities to wounded veterans from around the world.

Visibly emotional my @$$

“I stand here not as Prince Harry, Pat Tillman Award recipient, but rather a voice on behalf of the Invictus Games Foundation and the thousands of veterans and service personnel from over 20 nations who have made the Invictus Games a reality. This award belongs to them, not to me,” said the exiled royal, who reportedly considered declining the award ahead of the ceremony after the backlash.

Despite his best efforts to drown out the noise over the controversy, ESPN’s announcement didn’t sit right with many, including Mary Tillman, who slammed the sports network and claimed she was never consulted about the decision to give the award to Harry.

Harry acknowledged Mary Tillman, who was present in the audience, in his speech.

“The bond between a mother and son is eternal and transcends even the greatest losses,” he said, appearing to reference the 1997 death of his own mother, Princess Diana, when he was just 12 years old.

Diana card again

The prince explained that the word “invictus” comes from Latin for “undefeated,” and was made famous by poet Ernest Henley in a poem beloved by South African leader Nelson Mandela.

“Like that poem, the spirit of the Invictus Games transcends race, times and borders,” Harry said, noting that thousands of veterans from 20 countries have participated with his foundation.

“This year we’re celebrating 10 years of witnessing life-changing impact and healing through sport,” he said, to applause.

Another common Latin phrase known in the military translates to “leave no one behind,” and is particularly known among the Army Rangers, with whom Pat Tillman served.

Where is your praise for the two Marines who gave their life to protect your pampered spoilt @$$

“I have no doubt Pat Tillman and his comrades lived by those words. It is fitting that I end with them and make a promise from all of us at the Invictus Foundation: we are here for you. We will leave no one behind,” Harry concluded.

Harry’s appearance comes as he was reportedly left “stunned” and “quite sad” over the backlash following ESPN’s decision to honour him.

The father of two, who quit royal life in 2020, was handed the coveted award for his military experience and work on the Invictus Games.

Pat Tillman is very revered where I live. He was a star at ASU and then got drafted by the local NFL team, the Arizona Cardinals. It was a big shock when he announced he was leaving football to join the military. I know this sounds crazy but I remember listening to the local sports talk radio show when they announced that he had died. It hit the area hard. Since then, there have been a lot of events that have raised a lot of money for charities because of the Tillman family. Pat's Run is the major event. So if his mother is upset about what has transpired then I have to believe that Harry Windsor was the wrong choice.

After reading the article, it looks like ESPN got their way over the wishes of the Tillman family. That's a shame. Thanks for sharing this @Tish . I usually don't listen to the local talk radio shows (or any talk shows for that matter) but I will be listening tomorrow to see what the local reaction is going to be. I'm sure there will be a lot of outrage.

This is one statue of him in front of Sun Devil Stadium. There is another different statue in front of the NFL stadium across town where he played.

@MarkinPhx I look forward to your feedback on this, ESPN owe Mary Tillman an apology.
They are so disrespectful!
The woman went through enough to find out that her son was killed by friendly fire.

I used to follow the ESPY's back when they first started but lost interest in them later on so I didn't know this was a developing thing. Also, I don't really follow the Royals so I didn't know all the controversies going on with Harry. I did catch up on some of it on the post on the forum here and the more I learned about what is going on , the more it did upset me.

There was some talk this morning on the local sports radio show that I listened to but it was mainly centered around on the subject about how much ESPN has changed and now is more concerned about publicity (good or bad) and clicks. The speculation was that the Tillman Foundation was coerced some by ESPN to make that choice. Of course there is no evidence of it. There were also a couple of editorials in the local newspaper in the past couple of weeks expressing similar thoughts.

The main conclusion seemed to be that ESPN pushed for this and as upsetting as some find it, what's most important is to not forget the events that do go on here (and in his hometown) that raises money for scholarships and other thing. The troubling thing is when Pat's Run and other events first started, the family was very much a part of it. What seems troubling now is that the Pat Tillman Foundation has seemed to kind of stray.

I hope and pray that this blemish on the ESPY Awards does not affect the rest of the good events that do so much for the community, it broke my heart to see Israel Del Toro up there being ordered by Harry Windsor on where to stand on the stage.
I think he won the award in 2017.

@MarkinPhx Thank you so much for the information on this.

Harry said this. I can easily leave it here. Its what he said. U figure out what, " I (We) will leave no one behind means!"

A military man says after serving with his British armed forces for 10 years says.

Using the Ranger Creed is just sugarcoating for Pat Tillmans's sacrifice, may he R.I.P. and never be forgotten.
Harry Windsor does not understand such a sacrifice, he does not have the intestinal fortitude, honour, respect and brotherhood.
Whoever wrote his speech for him, should be ashamed of handing such a revered sentence over to that self-entitled spoilt Brat.

As for being there for all the wounded veterans, he can start by paying the expenses of those warriors, instead of turning a blind eye to the fact that these wonderful heroes have to pay for their own travel and living expenses.

While he and his Harpy 2-bit mattress actress wife, use the funds of Invictus to pay for their accommodation in a five-star hotel and a private jet, and of course her wardrobe.

@Tish you and I share the same view on those two grifters. Prince Harry should have declined to receive the award especially after hearing the remarks made by Mrs.Tillman, mother of Pat Tillman. This award should have been presented directly to the wounded soldiers, members of the Invictus Games.
This was all a PR move.
It is time for Harry and Meghan to step away from the organization and go live their lives in private. They are not likable, nor kind, nor talented. Enough of the preaching, chaos and drama.

I agree with you 100%!
