My neighbor is of that religion. She tried to get us to join .... my husband told her that he was the neighborhood heathen . LOL Ever since then , we've been wonderful neighbors to each other and she hasn't pressured us to join . We overlooked our differences . She raised 2 kids while she lived here . They were robots .... I felt so sorry for them . ( I could write so many things that were just odd , but I don't have time ) When they got older , they both went to colleges out of state .( Bible colleges ) They were never seen again at home. When I asked her about them ,,,, she just says " they're doing good ."

Now -- she's in her 40's ,,, and "adopted" a young girl through her church 4 years ago --- the girl is 5 now. I see the same thing happening .
When she comes over - she clings to us . I'm not calling anyone to report , because she isn't neglected . It just pisses me off ~~~~

Religious folks can be a tad over zealous
Their kids may suffer

However
Whatever bent, religious, atheist, or agnostic…whatever, one comes to a place in life to be able to exercise the one thing we all get

The power of choice

Radish Rose ..... her first 2 kids began to cling to us about 10 years after they moved in. I think they were almost teens then . We got in trouble with the mom
when Hubby showed the son how to light a sparkler.

When I was young my mother took us to a Pentecostal church and we were scared to death. She then changed to Methodist and then staying in the Baptist church, Southern Baptist that is. I never felt comfortable until I attended an Episcopal church with a friend. Felt like I was home and I have never left. My mother was afraid I was going to hell by going there. She thought it was too close to the Catholic church. My sister is Catholic and she felt she had failed us both where our faith was concerned.
