I mean some of them just don't know from breeds. Some still sting from what "pit bull breed" might mean to Muffy and Buffy next door. But there was a couple who came in tonight with a pup maybe ten pounds bigger than Sophie. But exactly the same coloring down to the beauty mark.

This is a male American Staffordshire

A clone of Sophie and the customer's dog...but nope they insisted their dog was boxer and Labrador...yup...

My Bonnie is a female American Staffordshire terrier/pittie and she looks a lot like that dog above, but black brindle where that dog is brown, and the white on her face is a lot wider and goes all the way over the top of her head. it's a mask almost like you see on a lot of border collies, coloring-wise. Bonnie has white feet and a white tip on her tail.

I've noticed that a lot of rescue organizations avoid like the plague identifying any dog as being anything involving a pit bull or an Amstaff, probably hoping they'll get adopted easier. Bonnie's adoption papers say she is a pit bull terrier, but my vet says there's really no such breed and she's really an Amstaff mix. Anyway she's a sweetie and I love her to pieces, all 70 pounds of her. She is a big mush, though she can make a pretty scary face when she wants to. Mostly she just wears that Amstaff smile.
