The price of oranges

I just looked at the price of navel oranges in the local supermarket - 2 for $3. Seems kinda pricey to me and this is the peak season. Is there a citrus shortage?

That's about the same price for avocados. I don't know why.

Florida had hurricane Irma and California had fires but I have read that junk snacks have become less expensive than fresh fruit and vegetables.

$1.00 each here for the larger navels or I can get an 8# bag of smaller navels for about $7.00. I avoid buying Florida oranges for eating. The Florida oranges we get up here in PA are always tough. They seem to be more of a juice orange. When I am in Florida, I buy an orange called a Honey something or other. They are very sweet.

Have not bought oranges in a while. But I am sure it has something to do with weather in Fla. and Fires in California. Hurting the crops

Our surprisingly sweet and incredibly juicy HoneyBells have a loyal following—and for good reason, too. The rare crossing between a tangerine and a grapefruit makes this delightful fruit unlike any other citrus available. And although both fruits it comes from are seeded, a HoneyBell is remarkably seedless. Famous for being naturally sweeter than any orange around, Cushman’s HoneyBells have a rare bell shape, revealing to everyone that they really are their own unique and delicious variety of citrus.

Hard to find, but delicious.

My next door neighbor has a prolific navel orange tree in his back yard.

Yesterday he brought me a bag of the oranges, some of which are almost as big as grapefruit.

I have an avocado tree + a lemon tree. We take care of one another.

I see those high prices at Wegman's and Price Chopper.

I buy my oranges at Aldi 4#s of California Navels $2.49 this week.

I also find good prices on produce at Price Rite, a no frills supermarket.

I'm lucky to live in an area with a lot of competition and choice in grocery shopping.

I almost need to take out a bank loan to buy Avocados here they are $4 each and not much bigger than a duck egg
About 2 hours west of where we live it’s Australia's best citrus growing area it’s called Remark ...

It was in the news recently for all the wrong reasons , where two young men where planning to kill students and teachers at a local high school

HoneyBells are delicious. I got a couple in a fruit basket a couple of years ago but can't find them in the supermarket. All the produce is expensive in New Jersey now. I also found the supermarkets take advantage of any weather or disaster situations that occur. There could be an avalanche in Alaska and they will jack up the price of bananas and blame it on the weather conditions from that area.
