Somebody asked this question a couple of weeks ago
when you changed your clocks in North America, I
tried then to answer, but feel that my effort was a
weak one.

Tonight we change our clocks and BT, British Telecom,
have posted a story about why we do this, so I know
that you are interested and post it
Click here to read their version of why

Mike.

The governor of Florida has signed in an order to keep Florida on Daylight Savings Time through the entire year. Thing is, those against doing this say that those kids that walk to school would be doing it in darkness........NOT a good idea. And, when the rest of the East Coast and Southern States change their time back, Florida would be 1 hour ahead of all. Not sure if that's a good idea either.

Interesting is that after WWII almost all states had turned back to regular time but in some local towns times were optional. Only a couple reasons, states, that wanted day light time imposed.

With all the brilliance of our Congress the government decided to take all states to the daylight schedule with the right to reject if they wished. So from one or two wanting daylight time were were then with all states on daylight time and soon a couple states did drop daylight time. So with Congress help we went from a couple states wanting daylight time to all but a couple state now on daylight time.

To me it is a real foolish thing to do. No daylight is ever saved and plenty of reasons for allowing the local folks to have their own time. Shopping and manufacturers do often allow hours of business to shift for whatever reason.

It is stupid and political minded idea. Government controlling is all it really is.

Incredible, how a mere 60 minutes could affect so many people so adversely.

Time is something all must live with and most folks do adjust nicely to what is given. But these government controlled changes for political reasons is but a waste of our taxes and Congresses time. Congress has plenty to do with our budgets and national debt reduction, which they do not do.

We should not re elect those that never do their job.

Most people including me, hate the switch but no one listens to the people. One province in Canada does not switch over and it does cause problems with that one province and the neighboring border province.

How about those COWS....!?!?!? There's a corner of Indiana which rejected the DST b/c they feared it would affect milk production.

From living on a small hog farm during my high school years, I know how this could happen. Most folks on this forum wouldn't know much, or anything, about livestock, but time-of-day does affect them. Like feeding time, most livestock have to be fed the same time each day.

Our daylight savings starts this weekend ( Easter ) our clock go forward one hour because we are slipping into autumn / winter
Most states in Australia participate ,however Queensland refuses to,take part ...one part of Queensland we go to for a month in the winter, called Coolangatta ,that part of Qld shares a boarder with the state of NSW ...and in the summer months depending on what side of the street you are on what time it is ..it will an hours difference in time depending if you are on the Qld or the NSW side of the street
However it dose not effect us in winter as both sides of the street are the same time

I tried to,add a photo of the border mentioned in previous post but it wouildnt let me
In this photo you will see a footpath ...that’s the border .....cars on right are in Queensland ...cars on left In New South Wales

The A framed shape is also a border marker what one side of A frame in NSW the other Qld ...it’s in the middle of a roadabout ...
