The right to wear a Bikini in Australia

In 1946 an unnamed Australian woman walked the Bondi Beach Promenade wearing a bikini causing a near riot.
A Lifeguard told her she was "Indecently Attired" and ordered to proceed to the changing sheds and "Put on Decent Clothing"
She was charged with "Offensive Behaviour"
Hollywood Actress, Jean Parker was arrested in 1951 for the same offence.
In 1961, over 50 women were arrested and ordered off Bondi Beach for the same offence.
Men were targeted as well.
"We are taking a good look at the men as well, and many of them have been sent off the beach for wearing exaggerated jockey "
The Waverley Council had had enough.
Council Alderman J. Einfield suggested that women wearing two-piece swimsuits parade before members of Waverley Council and that “Aldermen could then judge if the bikinis were decent”. In reporting the (unsuccessful) proposal The Daily Telegraph quipped, ‘The Eyes Have It’.
By the Summer of 1961 "Indecently Attired" act was abandoned and women won the right to wear Bikinis.

Good Grief! I like the Daily Telegraph response to old men scoping out the young girls. Were there going to be prizes?

At the very top of this thread is one of those click bait come on thingys. This one reads, "Monica Lewinsky wears the smallest bikini in the world." I don't usually fall for this crap, but I clicked on it hoping to find something relevant to cut and paste into this post. I scrolled awhile and eventually gave up the project. Now I feel used and manipulated.

Edit: I never saw Monica. I don't know how long they expected me to search.

Yep, used and manipulated you were.

@Bretrick , the click bait thingy was not associated with you post, that's just where they display on the web-page.

I was a freshman in high school and my mother made me a two-piece swimsuit (not a bikini by any mean....). It was made out of a sort of terry-cloth and it was quite attractive.....at first.

Unfortunately, I found out to my embarrassment that it became very "heavy" when wet. When I got out of the pool, I had to hold the bottoms up with both hands while hurrying to the locker room. That was the first and last time I wore that swimsuit.
