The secret to living...

I think the fear of death has been exaggerated throughout history. Most people dread the possibility of pain and disassociation associated with death, the truth no one really knows until death is experienced first hand.
The media certainly does not paint a pretty picture of death given the appeal of vampires, slasher films and horror movies. Even the afterlife should one exist, is exploited by religion, demons, unsettled business and angry spirits, no wonder death as a perspective creates anxiety regarding our own demise.

Death anxiety is an anxiety caused by thoughts of one's own death, referred to as "thanatophobia. Individuals affected by this kind of anxiety experience challenges and adversities in many aspects of their lives. Death anxiety is different from necrophobia,, which refers to an irrational or disproportionated fear of dead bodies or anything associated with death.

Predatory death anxiety arises from the fear of being harmed.
Predation or predator death anxiety arises when an individual harms another, physically and/or mentally; often by unconscious guilt, in turn, motivates and encourages self-made decisions of harming others.

Existential death anxiety stems from the basic knowledge that human life must end. Existential death anxiety is known to be the most powerful form of death anxiety which through communicative and behavioral changes including an awareness of the distinction between self and others, a full sense of identity and an ability to anticipate the future.

Human beings are the only living things that are aware of their own mortality and spend time pondering death, free will, blessing or a curse?
