I saw this photo today and was curious about the small knife on the back of his turban.
The kirpan is a sword or a curved knife (not a dagger)] of any size and shape, carried by Sikhs. ... Kirpans are curved and have a single cutting edge that should be sharp. They are any size and a baptised Sikh may carry more than one, the Kirpans must be made of steel or iron.
