The Social Security Admin under review

A review by the US Office of Inspector General said there are approximately 6.5 million Social Security numbers linked to people 112 years of age or older.

In actuality, there are about 40 people worldwide who are 112 or older, according to the latest data. The review said the "SSA does not have controls in place to annotate death information on the records of number-holders who exceed maximum reasonable life expectancy and are likely deceased. The technology is available; it's not being used."

The review noted one case of a con-man who opened bank accounts using several different social security numbers, two of which belonged to people born in 1869 and 1893, respectively, making them 145 and 121 years old, respectively.

At the time of the review, the SSA's system indicated those 2 people were alive and still receiving monthly checks....only 2 examples in over 6 million, apparently.

How ridiculous that the SSA is not using the technology by which they could detect the massive amount of fraud! Perhaps if they did, it would keep more money in the pot and delay the 23% reduction across the board in benefits, which is expected to happen in 2034.
