When my oldest son was about 13 he began playing roller hockey. This is Fla. (around 2003) He was good and we sort of became lightning fans. We drove down to Tampa and bought tix on the street and were right behind the glass. They played Detroit. Having been a football/basketball fans my entire life this was a new experience. I knew right then I had seen the most amazing game live up close. The speed and movement of the puck blew me away. They went on to win their first STanley cup. Now flash forward to 2023.
My youngest daughter who is now 18 somehow became a Devils fans. She likes Jack. We are huge Devils fans now,, I love hearing her talk hockey. She knows the history, the great players, the terms, the stats. And even Frank told her happy birthday this year. I understand her passion as I followed basketball and football that way when I was a boy in the 60s and 70s. Just never hockey.
