The Walk-Man Appeared in 1979

I thought this was an incredible invention.

However, it was the beginning of the end of socializing as we knew it. Out and about or at the Bus Stop if you wore a Walk-Man it basically meant 'Don't talk to me'. People became more isolated in their day-to-day goings on.

Then Steve Jobs came along and destroyed civilization with the advent of the cell phone. Now nobody has to talk to anybody anymore about anything. Thanks, Steve!

First of all, the minute you use terms like "nobody" and "everybody" to make a point, you're automatically going to be wrong. People still do talk to other people...well some of us anyway. Please don't lump us with "them". :ROFLMAO: Anyway, you bring up an interesting point Beezer. I never thought of the Walkman as being the beginning of the end of socialization! And you're right...plugging up was (is) a good way to get people to leave ya alone.

I was holding on to this for a long time past it's usefulness. I thought perhaps I could use the radio part of it after the tape player feature stopped working, but it was to no avail. So before I threw it away, I took a picture to remember it by.
