The weird world of Logistics.

I have an order on the way from Walmart. Some commonly locally available protein drinks and coffee. I am in Missouri USA. It's coming FedEx from ... Mississippi. Be here tomorrow.

Another time I bought a couple boxes of bandaids ... we're sent from Indiana in an envelope.

With Walmart, shipping of items they carry is free, whereas for delivery you need to tip the driver at least 10% of the order, or you are a jerk.

I've seen this too and marveled.
I find both entertaining and hilarious... and then I feel horrified by the waste(?).

And then I go to the grocery store and buy fresh fruit from all over the world.
And I think of all the times my parents would chide me with "You need to finish
everything on your plate, young man... don't you know there are people that are
starving in Africa!! (or wherever)."
When I got to be a smart-alecky teenager, I would retort, "So, put it in an envelope
and send it to them!"
Well, they're doing that now... overnight FedEx to the other side of the world.
