About a mile from the rural area where I grew up and now reside, sat a one room schoolhouse. Last Summer, I inadvertently discovered a small file on the White Oak school at the local genealogical /historical library, which became an art/writing research project of about 125 pages.
The head librarian requested a copy of the work, and it's now in the library's Illinois room, in which I take a lot of pride.
Art can be so organic, like a tree or a stream, branching its way hither and thro. Having been deeply involved in this process, I utilized predominantly analog media, including pen & paper, lettering, drawing, along with narratives done by calligraphy and with a typewriter. Recently, I got back into digital art and am endeavoring to tell the school's story in that form.
