The Wonderful Texas Summer Weather Has Returned

It's that time of the year to apply for a loan to cover my central air conditioning bill. Been about 95 degrees all week and it should continue until late September. If only the humidity would be lower, I wouldn't constantly feel like I was trying to breathe under water in a pool. Nighttime we drop to a chilly 72 degrees, so my electricity plan of free power from 9pm until 6am is useless because my usual nighttime seeing of 63 degrees causes my unit to freeze up..... I wonder if I can get a waterbed that will allow ice to be added.... An invention like that could solve all my problems!!!!! :cool1:

Right there with you hauntedtexan, I am in Houston and we are not dropping that low at night. I get out early to do errands and get back in for the rest of the day. You are right about late September being the earliest we will feel some relief.

Hot here North of Dallas!! 99 and 100 for the weekend!!! Had our a//c and heater replace last month $8,000!!

I feel your pain Ken. I replaced my upstairs ac/heater and it cost $5,000. After they finished installing it, it wasn't working in the largest room so they said I'd have to pay an extra $1,500 to reroute the ductwork. I complained so they said they'd have an outside expert come and look at it. Next day, the guy came and within 10 minutes he comes back and says it was just a switch. hmmm. Soon I will have to replace my downstairs one. You can buy a nice low-miles car for that price...maybe even a new one. I don't know, I haven't bought a new car for 13 years.

Temperature here in NC right now is 74. High will be 88. Low tonight will be 74 with thunderstorm maybe. Fairly mild weather for now.

Make it a minivan with a/c and a mattress! Problems solved! :cool2:

Don't tempt me hauntedtexan. I'd grab my pup and art supplies and just travel from beachfront campsite to beachfront campsite. There are some creature comforts I'd insist on though....admittedly, I'm a camping wuss.

You folks sound about ready for a summer vacation in the cool Canadian Rockies!

Seriously though, it gets hot in Canada too. We lived in the Yukon Territory for a couple of years and fled to a mountain cabin during summer heatwaves.

It's hot all over the western half of the nation. We've been in KC the last couple of days, and the temperature reached 94 yesterday...same today. I looked at the thermometer when we got home, an hour ago, and it said 97. I left the AC set at 74 while we were gone, and the house was nice and cool when we got home. This mornings weather report said Phoenix, AZ may set an all time record of 122 degrees in the coming days, and that part of the country, leading into central California, is due for some serious heat.

Then, there are those who insist that the climate isn't warming....DUH

Its almost 6:00 pm and its still 91. Dreading August. Will make a quick Kroger run in the morning and then back in. Hate to see the power bill.
