These Fires in Southern California are a Nightmare.

I do not understand why a person would do this. I've heard of arson for defrauding insurance companies and can understand that crime because there's a motive but cannot fathom arson of this type.
Arson is a sickness of the mind, without question.

Back in the 70’s I was working near San Marcos, CA. Hard to believe now, but it was a somewhat rural, area back then. Someone came over from the manufacturing building to tell us there was a brush fire. It was late September and not unusual for brush fires so everyone was casual about it saying, yeah, yeah, whatever. But the person was very insistent that an authority figure please go outside and look. Whoa! the hill right behind our little business park was blazing! We had to evacuate. I passed incoming fire vehicles on the way out. They did contain it before any damage was done. The next day that beautiful rolling hill behind us was charred black.

Arson is a sickness of the mind, without question.
As a former wildland firefighter watching a fire is ripping is truly awe inspiring so perhaps being around it leads to the potential of awakening the sickness w/in. I can personally attest that setting backfires can and will lead to addiction to do same.
