with modern medicine people, especially people with some means, are living so much longer.
I remember reading the paper as a kid in the 60s. I would read the whole paper, including the obituaries. I remember the ages of those who passed. If you are talking the late 1960s...the vast majority of people were passing between, oh, say 65 years old and 72 years old.
Sure, plenty lived longer...but the vast majority was right in that kind of core range. On my Dad's side, a lot of the men passed in their early 60s.
