Things you do for good luck

Things you do for good luck

Always, and I do mean always, carry my lucky 'rabbit's foot' with me everywhere.
The rabbit is still hopping around with a limp, I hear. 😊

I plant a potato every St. Patrick's day, (even if there is three feet of snow) so I can have good luck all year!
If I get a penny back in change, I tell the clerk to put itin their shoe, for good luck all day. If they refuse, I put it in MY shoe!
I don't sing before breakfast or throw a hat on the bed.

If I feel down, meditating or listening to the music I love always makes me feel good.

I keep a religious charm with me.

One time, my wife and I went to Atlantic City. We really did not go to gamble. We went for a comedy show and a nice dinner...well, over the weekend, a nice show and a couple of nice dinners. And I gambled, but my max of $100. Just $100. And, you know, I started wishing I would just win $1 million dollars.

So, I had worked with the comedian years and years ago. I knew him, but not well. I had known he was a nice guy, but did not know how nice. He saw me there with my wife and just stopped and told my wife all these wonderful things about me. About 99.99% of them were simply not true. But he just wanted to make me look good in front of my wife. It was an incredibly nice thing to do.

And he saw me looking around at the tables and said, pointing to my wife, "looks like you already won the lottery."

So, I am pretty sure that religious charm worked perfectly.

The comedian was Floyd Vivino. Well known in NJ as "Uncle Floyd." He had part in Robin Williams movie "Good Morning Vietnam."
And his comedy set? Super, top level stand-up. Really knocked it out of the park.

One season my ball team had a beat-up old Yankees ballcap that (purportedly) belonged to Mickey Mantle. Before every game, on our into the dugout, we kissed the NY embroidered on the front. I've had lucky bats, lucky cleats, sweatbands and gloves, even a lucky water jug. Some guys did their lucky steps when they stepped up to the batter's box, pitchers had certain luck rituals, and one of the guys gave offerings to a tree before each tournament....usually crackers (fitting).

I make my own Voodoo dolls although they are yarn dolls about two inches tall there are many. I have one Voodoo doll I call my good luck doll to bring me good luck. I also have another Voodoo doll I call my dumb luck doll to bring me dumb luck.
