Thinking of our members in the Northeast. Stay safe!

Thank you! Here in the Northeast, it was 10 degrees below zero, F, directly outside my window,
at about 9p.m., and the temp is still dropping, tonight of course, with wind chill factor at about 30 degrees below zero!

Gosh, I am very thankful to be indoors, and with heat and warm food and blankets.
I wish everyone could have a warm place to be, tonight.

Now, it's 5 degrees F (9:38 AM) My body doesn't pump blood like in the old days, so I freeze my *** off, if I go out. I'm house bound. So, I'm bored. That's why I wonder how to make a 'degree' symbol with this key board, and of course, to complain. - I don't like the windchill nonsense. Supposely if it's 32 F, and there's a breeze it's -48 F. No, it's 32 F with a jacket on. It seems extreme windchill numbers are more "weather channel" hype, than reality.
I told you I was bored.

It has been reported that the coldest temperatures in "a generation" have hit the Northeast. Hope everyone stays safe and is okay!

Aw, thank you, @seadoug ... 9 degrees here right now and I'm in a blanket but supposed to get into the 40s by tomorrow afternoon, so I can take staying in my warm jammies for a few extra hours this morning and bundled up for 24 hours. :giggle: My main concern isn't the cold but the electricity going down as has been happening around here. Now THAT wouldn't be very pleasant.

Frigid temps are no fun, that's for sure. Hope all being affected right now stay warm and safe. We had below zero temps at night last week and single degree in the day, the dog and I stayed in for a couple of days, too frigid for his paws.

We're lucky, we have a fireplace in the basement, so if the heat goes out for any length of time we have the option to go down there and huddle around the fire.

9° ... hold down the alt key and input 0176 with the num lock on. @fuzzybuddy

Keep warm, all of you, please, you can also do some
marching on the spot, that heats you up, but don't
try it if you are a bit wobbly on your feet, or have sore
joints, but you know all that anyway, just a reminder.

Mike.
In QiGong we rub our palms together briskly until it warms us. Today is a good day for that!

Sounds like there is hope come Sunday ... They like to talk about weather whiplash a lot lately, everywhere.

A historic arctic outbreak that brought dangerous windchills of 25 to 50 degrees below zero to the Northeast early Saturday may end overnight Sunday with a dramatic rise in temperatures, with highs climbing to the 40s, according to the National Weather Service.

I had known from the forecasts, that this was not going to last past 2 or 3 days and nights;
Which is nice, but.......
I was still concerned, because if the power had gone out, then it would have been too difficult for me to go for even that long, without heat or heated pads or warm food.  😬
I also wondered if the ground frost heaves, might break utility supply pipes, etc.....

But thankfully, none of that occurred, and it is a short-lived cold spell, which, as was said above,
is normal for living winters in this part of the world.
And fine, for those of us with warm places indoors.

Thank you, to all of you, for thinking about us.☺️

On the positive side, 45 years ago today we got a 2 day blizzard which dumped four to five feet of snow on us. Everything in the state shut down. The snow was waist deep in the streets and everyone had to walk everywhere. We had to walk to the grocery store and get food for us and for my Grandparents as well and deliver it to them because it was really hard for the elderly. The snow lasted over two weeks and many streets in my hometown were impassable during that entire time. To my mind, that was worse than this.

I remember that! I worked in a small bookstore then, we closed early. I thought I'd stop at the supermarket for food on the way home. I almost didn't make it. Part way, I had to drive with my head out the drivers side window; the snow was so thick and fast! I made it into our driveway at least, before I got stuck.

Oh yes, that was far worse.
