but I am sitting here with tears from all the great memories. And I really think my old teachers have some interesting things to say, lookng back at their early teaching years. It is a four part series put together by a man who graduated from my high but much later than me. I know his parents-they went to school with me. Anyway, one of the parts is the 60s,which is when I was there. I will post the 60s one but all can be seen by clicking on the previous/nextin the upper right corner. But if you don`t watch anything else, there are three parts that are personal to me in the 60s video. One is at 7:38-my Government teacher, who upon hearing that I was getting married (Senior year) told me to send her a postcard in a few months and tell her about my divorce. Thank you,Ann Jennings-when times were tough I always thought of your words.....Next is at 7:48-that is my sister in the middle. And last but not least is at 7:50. That is my hubby wearing the bell bottoms that we went up to San Francisco to purchase back in 1966. He wore them to school and got teased mercilessly. The yearbook staff begged him to wear them again for a yearbook photo but he refused. He did agree to bring them to school in a bag and put them on just for a photo. Well,as you all know,it wasn`t too much longer before we were all wearing them. Such a trendsetter my guy is...:)

Not boring at all, Mrs. Robinson....Thanks for sharing. :) Your government teacher was being
rude...and should have congratulated you, and even tho she didn't mean to, she actually gave you strength when you needed it. Your sister was Very Pretty, and your husband was a fashion trend setter! :coolthumb: It's always fun to look back at our high school years. :)

Great video Mrs. R, nice memories for sure, thanks for sharing!

It really was a great high school-and still is. Most of the teachers who started their teaching careers there, stayed there until retirement. My oldest sister has been lifelong friends with one of them. By the way,Misty-I forgot to add that the teacher who said that to me ended up losing her job the following year when it was discovered that she had been carrying on an affair with one of the students in my class. We had never guessed that she was lesbian-you didn`t think about that much back then. Even the girl that she had the affair with-whom most all of us had known since kindergarten-was only thought of as a "tomboy". We were maybe really sheltered-or maybe that`s just how it was then.Anyway,as far as I was concerned, she got what she deserved.

Speaking of lesbians, Judith Dench played a teacher who was a lesbian in Notes on a Scandal. An interesting movie as I recall...

It seems to me, after watching the video, that perhaps, a lot of schools were like Cap High back in the day. Many of my teachers were also lifers at out high school and the kids acted pretty much the same way with saying hi to everyone and our school spirit was unbelievable. Our basketball, football and wrestling matches were always either sold out or almost sold out. It was a great time to go to high school for kids and one thing was more true back then more so than it is today; peer pressure from other kids was not as rampant as it is today.

Watched your video Mrs. R. Sounds like it was a great experience and you had some dedicated teachers.

It was not so great at our school (class of '64). I think things changed in the 60's. The kids in our high school were very clique-ish and competitive both academically and/or socially. Certain groups were always looking down on other groups. Looks mattered, clothes mattered, socioeconomic status mattered. Totally foreign attitude from how I was raised up to that point. And not helped by the teenage brain immaturity. From the teachers' points of view we were probably great students. But I was glad to get out of there. Wish I had an experience like you, but then it made it easy to move on, and that is good, too.

Very Interesting info about your rude teacher, Mrs. Robinson. That would have been quite the scandal in those days....a teacher having an affair with a student and like you mentioned, being a lesbian was not thought of much then. Today teachers having affairs with students is in the news quite often. Too bad you don't know where she is, and you could send her a picture of you and your husband's smiling faces after all your successful years together. :)

Funny you should mention that,Misty! I have tried to look for her on Facebook etc. but no luck. Was actually kind of curious whether she might still be with the same girl (well, old lady, now LOL) I know that girl became an attorney but I don`t think I`ve ever tried looking her up. I know she has never attended any reunions. I may just have to see if I can find her....
