The FCC is considering a two tier system that will allow some providers the right to charge a higher price for faster service. Today companies like Netflix are protesting this change from net neutrality and want subscribers to contact their political reps to fight the change. I'm on board with no change and wonder what other countries are doing in regard to this matter...

I guess that my question would be; other than for profit, what would be or is the FCC's main purpose for doing this? If I understand this proposal correctly and if it would be enacted, the FCC would actually be giving an advantage to those companies that have the income and is able to afford purchasing the faster lanes. However, if a company had to pay a premium to get into the faster lanes, say a company like Netflix or Comcast would either absorb the costs, which would reduce their profit margin, or pass the added expense onto the consumer.

Am I reading this correctly?

Your take is right to the best of my understanding...
