Last Wednesday I was asked to drive 30 miles to the dive shop from my instructor. Not knowing the purpose of my visit I invited my daughter to tag along. It turns out the instructors purpose in me driving the long distance was to inform me of my discharge from the program. I later learned her reasoning behind such an abrupt ending was the result of several discrepancy that would have been resolved if she had talk to me about them rather than letting them build to the point it was easier to dismiss me from the program.
I was my former instructor's first student, which probably explains a lot. She said I don't communicate well at surface or underwater, I could have corrected this by reviewing scuba hand signals, In 2020, I first started training with a retired PADI instructor and on one only occasion only I became disoriented, so I posted my inquiry on a scuba diving forum stating I lost consciousness. When actually I didn't lose consciousness at all, but perhaps I was disoriented. Mind you, this occurred in 2020 so the instructor trolled through all of my posts looking for something to use against me to stop certification process.
I have to replace my buoyancy compensation device (BCD) because when fully inflated at surface pushes my head and body forward & downward instead of an upright floating position which is ideal for surface trim. When I resume training, hopefully the dive shop will have a selection of BCD's I can purchase. I have Hollis 200 HD which is a highly rated BCD, unfortunately the reviews fail to report the BCD's unstable characteristics at the surface. No one tells you this before you buy it. Looking for a vest type model BCD that the air bladder wraps around me instead of back-mount bladder system that may produce same results as the Hollis 200 HD.
Perhaps, her decision was based on age, and/or social status, or perhaps I was taking too long to complete certification? I'm getting $200.00 refund as payment for dry suit certification and Nitrox certification trainings that I didn't get to. Although I passed the eLearning classes for both types of certification which I can take advantage of at my new source for certification training.
I wrote my former instructor last night in replicate to the points I made above, in addition to her failing me as a dive instructor by not communicating her concerns to me prior to my dismissal.
On that note, I am to be referred to different dive shop of my choosing. Next week I'll reach out to a divers training outfit I stated with last year, however, I slipped down some metal stairs that caused major bruising which is why didn't stay with them. Hopefully, the training will take place in a larger water contained atmosphere than the tall silo type holding tank.
Some days are busier than others.
