THIS is what should be "protested"

It appears that this topic I started, and my comments about Chicago, have "irritated" a couple of forum members. Well, so be it. I reserve the right to express my opinion and mention incidents I have personally experienced.

Chicago ranks among the most dangerous cities in the U.S., AND I think I mentioned both Kansas City and St. Louis as being in that category, also. Personally, I Never intend to go to St. Louis again, and we are Very Careful of where we go when we visit Kansas City.

Have appreciated your entries on this topic, Don.

@Don M.

Speaking only for myself, I've only been to Chicago in an airplane, never been to Kansas City or St. Louis.

As I already said, my objection was the cavalier way you mentioned George Floyd's murder by what you said was a stupid cop, then you went off on a tangent about gang violence. Thus the diversion, as you know.

Sure, they could protest gang violence...or corporate greed, or dozens of other things.

As I already said, the thread is diversionary drivel. šŸ’¤

This incident between a bad cop and a Black man....and the explosive effects it has had all across the nation...and even other parts of the world, goes Far Deeper than just what was captured on a cell phone video.

IF anything positive comes from all this upheaval, it is going to require Adult conversations and thinking on the part of All of us. The issues leading to this event have been decades...perhaps centuries...in the making, and are NOT going to be resolved overnight. To dismiss such discussions as "drivel" demonstrates one of the reasons why these problems exist in the first place.

More finger pointing, table turning, and diversions.
Talk is cheap.

I agree with you, and things may them improve but never go away altogether I think. :unsure:.

Might be a good time for some of the table-turners to take a look at this thread...SF racial discussion 2 1/2 years ago.

Thank you for the thread you began before I was here to see it. It's long, but I will be reading it in full. No, I didn't know you are black. Why should I? I'm a NY Jew. Minorities have that ability to see life through different mirrors. It adds to our depths of experience.

Well, maybe I should have said something about going "upside your head". :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
(Just messin' with ya!)

I think that older thread has some good stories and discussion. It was locked, but I'm glad it's still available for reading.

@applecruncher
No joke. In my lifetime I've lived in many different states, countries. When there are no black people near me I get very nervous. I know next they'll be coming after me. I really need diversity to feel normal. I need mixture and difference to feel sameness and peace in my soul.

Instead of coming onto an internet forum wagging fingers and yelling about how black people should behave and yammering about having a "conversation", some people should talk to their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids about racism.

What has that "conversation" accomplished over the past 50-60 yrs? Hmmm :unsure: It's not a magic wand. :rolleyes:
