This looks really tacky but it works, slip proof hangers.

It has always been a battle keeping sweaters or slippery items on the hangers in my closet. I'm not one for spending money on hangers and my closet is far from color coordinated nor does it have all the fancy shelves and baskets you can buy these days and I still have a few wire hangers around. Yesterday I saw a hint using pipe cleaners. I gave it a try. Since I keep everything under the sun and still had pipe cleaners from my daughters project when she was in Brownies, and just to let you know how old they are,my daughter is 40 now. Anyway, You just wrap a pipe cleaner or two, depending how thick you want it around each side of the hanger. As soon as I did it I realized it left two ends with the wire exposed. The hint I saw made no mention of this other than to tuck the ends under. I just knew it was going to eventually slip so I put duck tape around the ends. It looks really tacky but so far it's working. Of course you could match up the colors and be really neat with the tape. At my age I could care less. If it works and I don't have to bend over to retrievehangers (800x600).jpg my sweaters off the floor,I'm all for it.

Ruth, I've tried that, but, I must have done something wrong as it was just a disaster for me, what did word was using hot glue. In the end though, just last month, I purchase some really nice hangers at a good price at Ross it was 12 per pack I believe for around $6 and well worth it. I'll take pictures at a later time of my glue ones and the Ross ones. I do plan to pick up some more of the ones I purchased at Ross next time I'm there. Dealing with the hot glue was time consuming and I just seem to be losing my patience lately.

I buy those hangers at Ross, too. They really seem to work well but occasionally one will snap. They're cheap enough, though.

Jujube, they have some newer ones that are a little different from what they normally were stocking and more for the buck. Like I said I'll try to post a pick. I don't think these ones will snap unless you are trying to hang an twenty or more pounds on them. :D
