First of all I'm NOT a veteran and have never served in any U.S. military branch but I am part of the V.A. since Im paying for it.
So far in the last few months the system sucks and needs to be fix.
This is part of an editoral of my local newspaper which I am in totally agreement with.

The Size.
With 6.5 million patients,300,00 employees and more then 150 hospitals and 850 clinics, the system too large to adequately perform its core mission.
You must make the VA system smaller.
By returning the VA's roots and treating only war and service-related injuries, you will enhance care for all veterans.
Congress is working to find private sector alternatives.
Note: Ive always thought the VA was only for war and service related injuries, what am I missing here?
