Not my picture and no idea who captured it. A found moment, graciously shared on the wide web.
With so many contentious events occurring, I think I’ll post a Moment of Zen each week as a small, hopefully soothing distraction.
Standing there between rock and tide, the first thing that might settle in is the sound.
The steady rhythm of the surf rolling in and pulling back through the rocks. Not crashing in chaos, but breathing. In and out. In and out.
You might feel very small. Not insignificant, just small in a good way. The dark rocks are old, unmoved by eons of tides. The sun slips below the horizon, painting everything in gold and ember, as if the day is exhaling its last warm breath. Whatever you carried down the path with you begins to feel temporary against something so steady.
Maybe you’d think about time.
How many sunsets have touched these cliffs?
How many waves have carved those channels in the stone?
There’s a quiet humility there. The ocean doesn’t hurry. The sun doesn’t argue with the horizon. Everything moves exactly as it should.
In a thread called Moment of Zen, what might pass through your mind is calm and simple.
This is enough.
Right now is enough.
And maybe, just maybe for a twinkling moment, nothing needs fixing.
