This Year - Squash

Last year I tried growing tomatoes from seeds I saved from store produce and potatoes from ones that sprouted. I did get edible produce from them. Today I started several varieties of winter squash (dumpling, acorn and delicata) indoors in dirt in the gavlanized tubs that had the tomatoes last year. Let's see what happens this year.

Last year I relocated my garden from the far corner of the yard to practically right in front of the patio where I hang out. It's much smaller and easier to deal with. I'll only plant two tomato plants.

We got some unusual looking squash this year. Our neighbor family is Hispanic, and she grows a whole yard full of squash. Some of it climbed over our 8’ fence and across the back yard. It produced several large green squashes that do not look like any other squash we have ever had before.
They are well over a foot long , dark green and fat on the bottom. The inside is a deep gold. We just cut one up and I have part of it roasting in the toaster oven.
Has anyone ever seen a squash like this or know what it is ? She just called it “sweet squash”, so it is maybe a Mexican variety.
