Those lousy Updates.

If you're reading this, you have a computer. And you do so with an operating system. One of the banes of Windows, etc, are the updates. Sure, it sounds great-getting a better working system. So why whenever I get an update, something doesn't work. Got one yesterday, and today Bluetooth & wifi were shut off. My phone got an update a month ago. On my Calander, everyday had a star on it, indicating an " event". What's a real event? So, I had to go through 3 months of dates and eliminate the star, even though the date said "no event".
This is just me running my mouth, do you have gripes about updates and computers?
And BTW, have you noticed your computer skill have gotten a lot better, in figuring out work arounds from the updates?

I have many different computers/devices and was always concerned about this. However for the last couple of years things have been updating without many issues. I was perfectly happy with Win 7 but needed to update to 10 because my software was no longer supported. I've been pleasantly surprised how well it has been working. I also run many other OS's that overall do pretty good.

I do backup everything to my NAS just in case something goes bad.

So it's not something I really think about anymore.

Seems that updates always mess up something for me ... both on computer and phone.
When I finally get it how I want it again, then here comes another update. ugh!

My iPhone updated this week, and assigned me a birthday ... it's shame that it's not my birthday ..lol .. but I'll leave it alone.
I don't want my birthday on there anyway 😁

Most updates don't affect the computer's operation in my experience. I think they must be adding or updating drivers to support new software updates. Software that rarely any of us will ever install.

If a software changes the spelling of anything previously installed and Windows isn't aware of it, the software could crash. So often driver updates correct these things.

Co-incidentally, I had to do an update of Ventura for Mac , just today... it takes quite a while to do, and sometimes it requires a password that I'm not very sure of ( Hails back to estranged o/h who did all my computer updates).. I did this update today.. fingers crossed, breath stopped... and waited impatiently to see if it would restart afterwards.. and it did.. and immediately I noticed that in the settings it said ..and still says.. that Ventura needs to update....:eek::eek:😫

Same with ipad and iphone. Something is always changed that I have to learn to live with.

It sounds silly but after the last update, I have trouble using the Like for laughing. Have to attempt it several times.

I swear their philosophy is ā€œChange for the Sake of Change.ā€

Fortunately Mac is nowhere nearly as bad as Microsoft and windows et al ... but even so.. it's real PITA every time we need to do updates... Today it took out my whatsApp on my desktop..I had to reinstall it...

I am no fan of updates. I have Windows 10 and it seems to love updating itself. Anyway, when it "kicks the bucket" I am going to smarten up and get myself either an OS system or a good Chromebook. I have a laptop that sits around for a month or so because I always use my desktop. Now, when I fire up that HP laptop, the silly things is "Updating" itself sometimes for 45 minutes.

Ya, ya! I know it's all for my benefit. Those good guys/gals at Microsoft really care about me. I need a hankie just thinking about how they care about me! 😭

I hate windows updates. They take forever and always screw something up. My photos, which used to be in order by date taken, are now scrambled and I can't seem to get them back in order. I sometimes have to go through the whole file to find what I am looking for. The photo file Windows 10 automatically installed is in order but is not usable with websites like Shutterfly. It is agravating.
