Those lousy updates!!!!

Two times now Android updates have moved my phone to airplane mode. It took me a long time just to figure out that my phone was not giving notifications and I finally noticed that my contact list wasn't updating. That's when I started looking for the problem. Beyond frustrating.
 
On my Samsung phone……I’ve noticed after updates…..have to reset my sound notifications.
Was frustrated at first…..but….now I will just reset…..and carry on.
 
you should think ya self so lucky - just bought a cheap stand alone keyboard from WW made in china - guess what - yep keys changed around - feck and thinkk about the techs updating - and checking it all works fine how do you think they feel about complaints??

I hear you loud and clear. I hated updates, especially from Microsoft. I have a lot of software on my computer, and some things would be wrecked after every update. Those weren't too bad, because I had figured out how to fix them. Not too bad, but still as annoying as Hell. Other things were random, and some I just had to get rid of. Windows 8 is no longer being updated. I never downloaded the newer Windows whatever. I know there are some risks when Microsoft phases out an old version. But NOT being updated has been such a pleasure that I don't want to ever see another new version of Windows again. I'll use ubuntu if it comes to that. Right now I am free and I have been basking in a computer that just keeps working flawlessly. You would think I'd just get used to it. So far, everyday I'm just thanking my lucky stars I'm not being updated.

Updates(for reasons unknown) often reset your personal settings back to default, or toss them out in favor of the "new & improved" version the developers are pushing out. :rolleyes:
 
I have an older laptop with Win10 and Linux Cinnamon Mint. I mostly stick to windows because of a few programs but that may not be the case much longer. The updates are becoming so disruptive and irritating. They cause my computer to not respond (when I am in a hurry!) and just makes it so sluggish. Then they make changes that don't need to be made. Seriously considering just making the move to Cinnamon permanent.
I tried a Chromebook but it was not for me. My husband, however, is very happy with his!

I hear you.....I always buy the same phone as my granddaughter that lives next door....she is the techie in the family.
 
I'm on windows 8.1. It's no longer supported by Microsoft, so there are no updates, and it's been wonderful. It's only for a few months so far, so we will see how long the joy remains. I do worry that some programs may focus on adapting to Windows 11, and will eventually not work on older Windows. But for now, it's like a breath of new life for my old computer.
