All three defendants in the Ahmaud Arbery trial were found guilty of murdering the black jogger in February 2020.

Gunman Travis McMichael was found guilty on the charge of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and criminal attempt to commit a felony.

Gregory McMichael, the man who pursued Ahmaud Arbery with his son, has been convicted of murder.

The conviction carries a minimum sentence of life in prison. It is up to the judge to decide whether that comes with or without the possibility of parole.

Neighbor William 'Roddie' Bryan was found guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and criminal attempt to commit a felony.

He was found not guilty of malice murder and one count each of felony murder and aggravated assault.

The jury reached its decision after more than 10 hours of deliberations following a trial in which prosecutors argued that the defendants provoked a confrontation with Arbery and defense attorneys said their clients were acting in self-defense.

Isn't it ironic that in the North, where racism supposedly doesn't exist, Rittenhouse was acquitted, but in the South, where we're seen as racist, those three scumbags were found guilty in spite of only one Black juror?

@ohioboy Since that happened the citizens arrest law in Georgia has been struck from the books. Yay!
Daughter and i discussed that a good deal during these two trials. I have known since i moved to NJ with my Mom in 1956-57, that their was as much racism in North as South, Southern racists are just more open and blatant about it.

Thank heavens this jury convicted these three men. They were guilty as sin.
Amen! I heard a blurb about the verdict on the radio coming back from the park today with my dog, and I am very thankful that these three racist scum were convicted.

I've heard that more than once from black friends who have lived in other parts of the country and moved back to the South in part because of less racism here. A long-haul truck driver acquaintance driving through Oregon several years ago got a CB message from another trucker that said in essence "Hey, Mr. 'N-word' ...what are you doing up here?"

Hard-core racists in the South are--Thank God--a minority. Most of the rest of us who've gone to school with, work and play with black friends feel differently.

Also, living in the South, I cannot imagine anyone mistaking a black man jogging for a criminal fleeing a crime.

Get off the South crap!!! Try going outside of your house sometime to get a breath of the real world. Racism is everywhere in all countries and all over this one big time and growing. Hatred is on the rise due in part to a certain clown we all know. Racism is one of the elements included in the sacred documents our founding fathers (slave owners) authored. Anyone want to write the year blacks were legal to vote in this county??? Shut up and read a book!

A great book to read for understanding the pervasiveness of racism outside the traditional South is:

Sundown Towns: A Hidden Dimension of American Racism
By
James W. Loewen

Some would be surprised to learn about the cancer of racism in many states including Michigan, Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Oregon, and Indiana.

"Just when you thought you'd learned everything there was to know about the sordid history of racism in the United States and its lingering impact on the nation, along comes this amazing volume, which reminds us all of just how deep the well of racial exclusion and white supremacy runs."

The first black vote black vote in the US was cast in New Jersey in 1870. Several states passed laws allowing black men (and one state black women who were widows with property--can't remember which one) to vote around that time. Sadly, New Jersey rescinded voting for black citizens in the early 1800s but a few Northern states have since nearly the beginning.

They were convicted mainly because of the video they shot and their lawyers presented as evidence. Had that video not existed, the outcome might have been much different. What were they thinking? They must have looked at the video before turning it over to the police. Now they're going to sit in prison thinking, You and your frickin' video. :ROFLMAO:
