Time for a big move

I agree with bluebreezes. I would not even consider renting something that cost such a percentage of my total resources, and the rent WILL go up every year. It does that everywhere (my sister is struggling now with the fact that her rent -- on a very modest apartment -- goes up every year and before long it will price her right out of that place). Add in the fact that if any unexpected expenses come along -- car repairs, illness, etc -- you are sunk.

Sometimes we always THINK we will be happier in another location, but generally, I've found that to be only a pipe dream. The grass is always greener, and such. We take most of our troubles with us when we move. And, the truth is -- WILL you be happier if you are so short of money and have to watch every penny? What good is a wonderful apartment if you can't afford to do anything else?

I'm admittedly very conservative with money, but I would be very, very cautious at committing to expenses I really could not afford, and will only go up in the future.
