Time for Christmas movies, y'all!

Just saw a commercial for Hallmark Channel's Christmas in July movies starting Monday, the 7th. For myself, I'll just skip them, TYVM!

Combine that with the articles I see on my homepage for Thanksgiving decorations and Christmas recipes.

Talk about rushing the season!

But...where's Hallowe'en? Nothing for Hallowe'en on the homepage. So far.

See, that's so misguided because Halloween is the best holiday of the year. 🎃

I have been watching them since the last week of June.🤠

Some are just dumb and I have seen many of them more than once. But they beat much of crap that’s on the other channels and I am not paying streaming service fees to watch anything on Netflix etc.

I have such a dislike for television that I record the news so I can fast-forward past anything I don’t want to watch, which is most of it. Or I can only watch a snippet of something and know all I need to know.

As a child, I liked Halloween, grew up and learned more about it. It's now forever on my good grief, yuck, do not celebrate list.

I think the Christmas in July thing is utterly stupid! Who the heck ever thought that up? And those Hallmark Christmas movies, I don't even watch them at Christmas time, not my cup of tea.

I enjoy the movies, but I have wondered this myself, so googled that very question🤠

And this is what AI has to say — note this is nothing new as it appears there is a mid-summer celebration in Italy:

Overview

Why We Say 'Bah Humbug' to Christmas in July Movies ...
While the concept of "Christmas in July" started in other contexts, Hallmark's tradition of premiering new Christmas movies in July originated in 2015. Hallmark began this tradition three years after initially launching a Christmas-themed programming event in July 2012. The idea was to offer a summer boost of holiday cheer to viewers and capitalize on the popularity of their Christmas movies.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Early "Christmas in July":
The concept of celebrating Christmas in July has roots in various traditions, including a mid-summer celebration in Italy and a summer camp tradition in North Carolina.

  • Hallmark's Contribution:
Hallmark took this idea and adapted it for television by creating a series of new Christmas movie premieres in July, starting in 2015.

  • Purpose:
This move was strategic, allowing Hallmark to engage its audience during the summer months and provide a preview of their holiday movie lineup. “

Time for Christmas movies

Nah! Way too early. Even too early for the best of the Christmas movies. A Christmas Carol (aka Scrooge). The 1951 British movie with Alastair Sim.

I like to shop on Fourth of July weekend. They're trying to get rid of summer and make room for fall so the deals are good. Hobby Lobby is filling aisles with fall deco at 40% off and sprinkling in Christmas throughout. I avoid those aisles and grab my summer stuff!
