Time magazine's person of the year candidates are unimpressive.

Taylor Swift, Tim Cook, and Putin made the list?! Perhaps one or all of the humanitarian workers who have been executed would be a better choice. Your choice is welcome here for our consideration...

Well Taylor Swift is only a singer, lucky to be born with a good voice and a pretty face, I don't know who Tim Cook is, but I do know that in the face of unrelenting pressure to react to lies, innuendo and attacks on his country's economy, Putin has continuously uttered conciliatory words, i.e. "let's work together, respect one another and international law, etc." So far, Putin would get my vote.

Putin, an ex senior member of the KGB?

As well nominate your former CIA director Michael Hayden!

Why not? George Bush Sr. was a Director of the CIA. Holding Putins previous 'job' against him under these circumstances is unreasonable.

And perhaps you don't understand the criteria that Time uses in picking an individual:

Person of the Year (called Man of the Year until 1999[SUP][1][/SUP]) is an annual issue of the United States news magazine Time that features and profiles a person, group, idea or object that "for better or for worse...has done the most to influence the events of the year".[SUP][2] [/SUP]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Person_of_the_Year

Now note: it says for better or worse right. That means at its most basic, someone who has been a major influence in the world for that year. And if you take note on that link, you will see the names of all the people chosen since they began doing this. Charles Lindebergh, Wallace Simpson, Hitler, Stalin, Queen Elizabeth, JFK, George W. Bush (the CIA Director guy), etc., until this year's choice, the people who have risked their lives to go fight ebola.
