Time to see the doctor

Sue suggests it's time again for me to see our Doctor for my annual checkup. I don't want to go. Everytime I go I'm sent for blood tests and every time the readings come back something is wrong. Then, it's off to see specialists who poke and poke some more and then I have to wait for the results which, so far EVERYTIME, come back showing things aren't that bad.

So I relented. I had to. Sue goes with me to be sure I actually go see the Doctor....Of course he checks me out, all is good but he sends me for a blood test. Of course.…. Fortunately no need to see any specialists this time. However, I'm now taking blood pressure pills. Apparently that's the thing to do today.

The doctor also suggested I go on a diet...Either that or take a cholesterol pill a day. I thought that over for about three seconds and went for the pill. If I told Sue I had to go on a diet I'd see so much vegetables....including brocolli.....And she'd hide all my chocolate bars.

AND, the doctor suggested I cut back on my running as my right knee is beginning to show signs of wear and tear. Start walking more......Which Sue has been suggesting for about a year now.

Next time I see the Doc he says he will be sending me for something called a prostate procedure.....I think I'll be looking that up on the net. It can't be too bad.

:yoda:Seems to me the better your insurance, the more tests they order, then the bills start coming in a month later. A recent blood test, (the doctor appointment charge,) (charge for drawing the blood,) (charge from from the lab for results) (charge from the lab that interpreted the results of the blood test for the dotor) HOPE YOUR CHECK
-UP IS GOOD..

At least we don't have to pay, but getting to see a GP is virtually impossible in the UK. I get an invite for a check-up every year - usually for a time when I'm on holiday. I go along to see a 'vampire' - a nurse who takes some blood. She says I should see the practice nurse to discuss the results. The practice nurse is just out to cover her backside so she has a check list devised by some faceless committee. How much do I drink? Don't know, I don't count. How much do I eat, how far do I walk, how many times to I go round the garden on a pogo stick? Then I get a lecture that was meant for a young child and I just say, yes , no, 3 bags full.. And leave thinking "what a waste of my time".

This year, I'll see a GP and ask them if my blood test showed anything significant. Then if anyone asks if I've seen the practice nurse, I'll say "no need".

Be careful if anyone says "prostate". Read up on it first - the doctors here won't do anything unless there is clear evidence of a problem.
