Tiny Houses

Seems like the Latest fad is living in a tiny house. I think I could live in one, if I could design it, but the wife would need some convincing. What say you?

Fine if you are living alone, but would be hard to share with someone who had quirks and habits different than your own...

I may buy one of those for my 90lb lab. Actually that would be a pretty cool camp house for hunters. Can't see living in one full time. But could if I had to.

LOL...9 animals would need their own tiny house. The opinions are going about the way I figured they would. It would be hard for two people to live together in one. If one lived where they could be outside for 90% of the time, it might work.

It seems to me that living in one of these would be like living in a camping trailer....fun for a few days, but quickly becoming a major inconvenience, after a week or so.

We get too many guests so we need to have two spare rooms, one of which serves as a strength training room when no one is visiting.

It's very quiet where we live and our nearest neighbours are also retirees.

I think some of them are very cute, but I would need a larger one somewhere in the 400 - 600, closer to 600 sq ft. The 150 - 200 sq ft just don't do it for me . . . I want a bedroom on the lower floor, not have to climb a ladder to a loft with no more than a mattress on the wood floor.

We have downsized to a small two bedroom what we call a bungalow, spent two years clearing our big house to get ready for the move.
On the plus size it is easy to heat, easy to clean and maintain, but it gets cluttered quickly and needs clearing frequently.
I do miss the space to have my own office and extra dining room, but I don't miss cleaning the bigger house.
It means we can retire at sixty and not have to work on, so we feel it was a good trade.
Dont think I could do living in such a tiny space as the tiny houses as we both like to wind down differently, I like to read and go to the bedroom, my hubby likes to watch the TVs and I would hate to have to listen to the noise before I went to sleep.

Sure beats a cardboard box under the freeway.
I agree Falcon and that's the only way I would live in one. I need a little more space atho I could make do if I had to. Thank goodness its just me as it would be way too small for 2 people. Just my opinion!

It would be a novelty to stay in one for a holiday but in my view, a bit too cramped to live in

We spend 4-5 months of the year in what is essentially a "tiny house". It means things have to be put away as soon as you use them, you have to maximize space and you can't have all your tchotchkes with you. It gets quite comforting after a while to have everything within reach and no more than you need.

I don't think I could live anywhere that involves me climbing a ladder and then crawling on my knees to get to my bed. Not this old gal.....not these old knees.

I tow my 120 sq ft bedroom/bath, anywhere I want. The rest of the time I spend with nature breathing clean air. All for <$300 monthly plus fuel.

I would prefer a park model RV trailer. No ladders and everything is built in at the factory. Many people have them parked in RV parks or on private land. Some live in them full time, others are snowbirds. They are bigger than most travel trailers, but smaller than a mobile home.

Not for me. I like to be surrounded by my "stuff". I'm definitely NOT a minimalist. But some of the tiny houses I've seen are cute and would be nice for a single person or a young married couple on a budget (or a minimalist!)

It's me in 4 rooms +BR. I like that. What I would change is the size of my lot= 1.3 acres (I don't know metric, 13,000 square meters). That's just way to big.
