I had the pleasure of seeing Tito Puente in person when he performed at a local college decades ago. Dynamite little guy....thoroughly enjoyable.

Puente, along with Xavier Cugat and Desi Arnaz in large part were responsible for bringing Latin dance music and Latin Jazz to recognition in the U.S. It's impossible to listen to that general style of music without tapping your foot or nodding your head.

Or dancing! It's hard for me to sit down during a groovin' Latin tune. Sometimes I think that my Latin heritage from way back comes out when I hear Latin music. Latin Jazz is one of my favorite genres to compose in; it's the easiest too.
