There used to be an old estate here in Winter Park, FL that the owners allowed the public to drive through once a year, right before Christmas. Besides a flock of wandering peacocks, the main attraction were the towering poinsettia bushes, some growing over 12 feet. It was gorgeous....all that red and green.
One Christmas Eve as a child, I bought my grandma and mother tiny little poinsettias for five cents. Grandma kept hers and nursed it back to health. She kept it upstairs in the bedroom by the window and years later it had grown up the wall and part of the way across the ceiling. She loved that poinsettia. Eventually, it apparently died of old age I guess.
