This is tragic. :(

Apparently this 2 year old figured out how to get out of the house but couldn’t get back in and died because no one knew she got out.

AKRON-- Akron police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl. The toddler was found out in the cold on her front porch.
The frantic mother called 911 after discovering her 2-year-old unresponsive on their front porch.

“You're gonna carefully tilt the head back, you're gonna pinch her nose closed and completely cover her mouth with your mouth and blow two regular breaths into the lungs," says an Akron dispatcher on the 911 call.
Akron police say around 3:30 p.m. Friday, they were called to the apartment on Doty Drive. According to the 911 call, the mother told the dispatcher she found her daughter 'frozen' outside.

"I cried because I just don't understand how a two year old could be outside and you not know," said neighbor Crystal Lucas.

Lucas says the woman who lives in the apartment kept to herself and had two children, the 2- year- old girl and a boy. She was surprised when police officers knocked on her door.

"It was freezing and that was my biggest worry when the cops came, when they started asking about the kids, they didn't divulge what was really going on, but when he asked about the kids, obviously something was going on and I was worried," Lucas said.
Neighbors say they would occasionally hear people arguing outside of the apartment. Lucas says she has seen both children outside alone before.

"I've had to take the baby home because she'll be outside playing…it was a few times that I had to take both of her kids home," she said.

No one answered the door when Fox 8 went to the apartment.

"It's just a very sad situation, it literally broke my heart," said Lucas.

The temperature for much of Friday remained in the teens.

The girl was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital where she died.

There is no information on the whereabouts of the mother. Police are not releasing the toddler’s name, but say they are still investigating.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy.

Earlier today, I read a story on the internet where in Florida, three young children, the youngest being one year old, was found dead in a freezer outside their home.

Don’t people keep an eye on their kids anymore? Unless the little ones are sleeping, they usually make noises. No noises, it’s a good idea to see what’s going on.

That is tragic, I probably keep a closer eye on my furkids than some people do on their children these days.

Yes. The mother of one of the children went inside the house to use the bathroom. When she returned, she couldn't find the three children, ages 1, 4 and 6. She woke up the grandmother, who worked a night shift, and they both looked around. The grandmother had bought the freezer a few days earlier and it was sitting in a vacant lot next to the house. The freezer was equipped with a latch on the door that would shut tight (locking?) the door down on the top of the freezer. The mother and grandmother found the three in the freezer, called 911 and proceeded with CPR, with no avail. All three children had died in the freezer. It wasn't stated if the door was open or if the 6 yr old opened it and all three got in. All investigators know is the door was down and the latch basically locked it.

I don't understand this one - surely if the child couldn't get back in she would have been crying - screaming even - for her parents,
yet nobody heard and nobody saw her until it was too late !
