Toilet Shut Off Valve Leaking

This morning, when I went into the bathroom where I shower, I noticed a puddle of water on the floor. A quick inspection revealed that the valve under the toilet was wet and slowly dripping. I closed the valve, mopped up the standing water and put a plactic container under the valve. Since I only use that bathroom to shower and don't use that toilet, I hope that solves the problem for now. I looked at YouTube and some videos say the nut behind the turn handle may need to be slightly tightened.

That is a good possibility. But, if you decide to check it, be careful to use a second wrench to hold the body of the value from moving as you try to tighten the nut.

If you don't you may cause a leak at the back of the valve or worse, a leak within the wall where the valve is connected to a main water pipe.

I have been there, done that and it is not fun...
