A Tokyo man was evicted 2 times in 50 years for Olympic construction. First evicted during prep for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics then evicted in 2013 in anticipation of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The first eviction didn't bother him as much but the last one was really tough him being much older and having lived there the longest in his life.

poor man, and his family... to lose first his business, and then to lose his family home, and his wife....and all their friends...very sad, .

I wonder why Japan couldn't have held the olympics in the same place they had previously in 1998

I was surprised Tokyo got the games with numerous cities that never hosted them. This does show it has been getting tough to find cities that want to host them and/or will spend on IOC demands.

And it's like they've been building disposable stadiums for the last 50 years or so. Too bad the original Tokyo stadium couldn't have been used. Same for any city.

Now Japanese won't even able to gain entry and view Olympic event since international tourists were banned months ago. Fans banned.

If the citizens are going to be inconvenienced in the name of what ever they should benefit from these mega events and that should include free entry among other things. One has to wonder if Japan would've proceeded with state of emergency which affects Japanese citizens across the board if they weren't hosting a mega event.
