Tokyo has passed tough anti smoking laws ahead of the 2020 Olympics. Part of the reason is that they estimate second smoke kills about 15,000 people a year in Japan. It's fairly simple if children are present no smoking.

Years ago I would've been offended by anti smoking laws crying civil rights blah blah. But what about the non smokers rights in a public places. I don't want to ban smoking but I do not want to breath somebody else's smoke especially when for leisure. Second hand smoke wether it's from a cigarette or an actual fire is nasty stuff.

I don't care to breath second hand smoke either and stay away from people that smoke. The only exception is my sister who is addicted, knows it and has no intentions of quitting. It's her house and car and body so I don't judge. She goes to my patio and smokes when she visits. I visit her and come home saturated with it in my hair and clothes. I just wash everything several times as she is my sister and in our late stage of life, I want to see her as much as possible.
