Took some drone footage of my Ar. land

squatting dog

Remember when... thirty seemed so old.
Buddy had a drone and snapped a few pics after I'd cleaned the house site and bush hogged some of the property. Finally got around to sending them to me. (y):) The more I look at it, the more I think I should re-build there.
Still had more bush hogging to do and then of course, all the trees in the shots also belong to me, so there's probably some dead fall needs clearing too. Mighty peaceful up there.

Great photos, BTW had to look up Bush Hogging(U.S.) term:
What does Bush hogging mean?

Also known as brush hogging, bush hogging is a landscaping practice that involves the use of a special rotary-cutting deck attachment to eliminate brush. The rotary cutting deck is the bush hog. It's attached to the back end of a tractor where it's able to chop down bushes:)

It looks beautiful @squatting dog. I wouldn't wait to rebuild.

I take it the building in the photo with the car is yours? If I'm correct, is the closest neighbor the white farm in the first photo? If it is, that is a nice distance for a neighbor.
That other place in the photo was a 5 acre piece I sold to a friend from Iowa. Other than that, it's about a half mile to the next neighbor.

OMG, it burned down. It looked lovely.
Yes... wife loved the huge kitchen and warm ceder flooring in the living room. Plus nothing beat sitting on the porch and gazing down the private road at................. well nothing. She and I built this house ourselves... no help from anyone. (proud of that).

I own 200 acres in Tennessee that I bought on a whim because of the price. It's all wooded and would cost me a fortune to clear and build. I have been approached by a few loggers and I think that's where my future for the land lies.

I priced clearing the land to build my home, plus putting in the utilities from the road would be at my expense, not to mention about 75-100 yards of cement or blacktop to have a driveway put in. I would definitely build a garage to work on cars and small trucks.

On the good side, I would have complete privacy, but I 'm not sure if that's what I want now that I am older. I feel better with having neighbors. At 62, I still have a few years to decide, but Father Time waits for no one.

BT—I looked at some land in Tennessee myself, but it was very expensive. The land I looked at was in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Some old man owned it. He told me his name was Johnson and that he was related to the Johnson’s that started Johnsonville and that his father or grandfather fought in the Civil War. He took me into his house and showed me some CW artifacts and said he would never part with them, although the museum is after him to donate or sell the artifacts to them. He was gruff when speaking with him, but I could tell he had a kind heart.

His wife offered my wife and I to stay for “supper.” On the way out the road, I told my wife I kept hearing the song “Dueling Banjos.” I only asked for 8 acres. I forget how many he was selling, but the land was located on top of a ridge, no less. It would have also cost a fortune to build there.

I would have loved to live in your home and am awed at the building skills you and your wife possessed to build such a magnificent house!

Thank you. It was when I converted the Greyhound bus that I realized we made a great team. Wife could picture something, and I discovered I could build it. :)
