Tragedy in Wauskesha Wisconsin when an suv rams into people at Christmas parade.

Well according to the 8:04p.m. update which can be seen when opening the link you provided, more than one person has died and the suspect is in custody. More than half the victims were children which makes this even more tragic. I just don't know what our world is coming to!!! Why do people do things like this?! This is so sad and frightening to think that any of us can be anywhere at any time and have some random person harm us for no good reason. May those who were killed R.I.P. and may their families get justice. Also I hope those who were injured will heal soon and not face adverse consequences from their injuries. @SeaBreeze

Here's the vehicle. Damage is from striking human beings at high speed ...many of whom were young.😭

If you had asked me a few years ago to name some of the most peaceful states to live in, I would have included Minnesota and Wisconsin. My husband's big (12 kids) family is from St. Paul and visits up there always seemed so quiet and pleasant. The mosquitos were the only mean things.

Waukesha is not far from Kenosha so I'm wondering if this was anger overflow from the Rittenhouse trial.

I'm actually more upset to hear "40 injured" than the death toll. The dead are out of misery, but the thought of little children having horrible life changing injuries and months of painful rehab, is the worst to me.

Latest update, is that the driver was fleeing the scene of another felony he/she was involved in.

Of course as we have seen so many times in the past, the media is anxious to speculate during these types of incidents, and it often takes days, weeks or months until the actual facts are disclosed.

That's what I'm seeing but were there reports of a vehicle behind his at anytime? Then again the guy seems like a career criminal many whom act on impulse.

Here in Canada, the news called the driver of the SUV, "a person of interest." Ya, I guess if he killed some people and injured a whole bunch of other people, he should be a "person of interest" to the police. However, whether he is really an interesting person or a nut or just someone who hates Christmas parades remains to be seen. I wonder what ever happend to the term "suspect"?

Thanks, America for our revolving door criminal justice system. Suspect--Darrell Brooks Jr--"has a lengthy criminal history and two open felony cases for which he was released on $500 and $1,000 bail, the latter just days before the parade deaths." The $1,000 bail was for a battery! charge. How the heck do the idiots in our criminal justice system do not get the fact that people who injure others are most likely going to do it again!???? Yet they keep releasing dangerous people back into communities.

The suspect, Darrel Brooks, Jr. may have been the driver, but having an unknown "criminal history" depends on what that history actually is, and bails of only $500, and 1,000 don't suggest major "battery" allegations. He may be the no-good SOB, who mowed down those people, but let's wait till we have facts, and not things off his Face Book page. As horrendous as his actions may have been, his mental state will be a factor in his trial, if he doesn't plea out.

There are literally thousands of people with a long criminal history wandering our streets on a daily basis. All too often, they wind up committing a really serious act....this is a prime example. Our justice system and police can't keep up with them anymore. It seems that our society is going downhill a little more with every passing year.

The more I hear of this kind of stuff, the more I agree with Sharia Law....when someone commits a heinous crime, the trial is on Monday, and the execution is on Tuesday.

Our Criminal Justice system increasingly seems to be centered around keeping an army of well paid Lawyers funded.

And, it's pretty obvious that most who commit these acts have serious "mental issues"....but since our mental health care system is little more than some basic "feel good" activity, there is little help for such people.

Here's his most recent rap sheet from court records. There were more charges than battery from 2 Nov 2021 including felony reckless endangerment. Yes, as absurd as it sounds, the bail for battery and other charges was only $1,000 though he had a lengthy criminal history.

The PDF of his priors starting in 1999 is 50 pages long. Has a lot of court jargon filler, but it's obvious this guy didn't belong out on a $1,000 bail.

....As horrendous as his actions may have been, his mental state will be a factor in his trial....

Multiple meth possession charges likely explain the mental state. Will be interesting to learn the results of his toxicology report.

Daily Mail is reporting was out on bail for trying to run over the mother of his child.

The amateur rapper who ploughed through crowds at a Waukesha Christmas Parade on Sunday night, killing five people and injuring dozens more, was on bail at the time after running over the mother of his child and punching her with 'a closed fist' just three weeks ago and was running away from cops. Darrell Brooks, 39, was taken into custody in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on Sunday night after police found his red Ford SUV parked neatly in a driveway five blocks from where he drove through crowds of kids and elderly dancing groups. The amateur rapper has a long criminal history dating back to 1999 with more than 15 arrests in the state of Wisconsin alone for charges including possession of drugs, strangulation and suffocation, battery, illegally possessing firearms as a convicted felon and resisting arrest. On Sunday he was fleeing the scene of a domestic dispute when he crashed into the crowds after smashing through safety barriers and breezing past cops. One officer tried to stop him by shooting at his car but he stopped because there were too many people around for him to safely fire his weapon.

On November 2, he was arrested on domestic violence charges after trying to 'run over' his ex, the mother of his child, at a gas station. His bond was set at $1,000 and he posted it on November 11th.

On Monday morning, the Milwaukee County DA's Office released a statement admitting it was 'inappropriately low' given his criminal history. They said they'd launched an internal review as to why he was able to get out on bond to commit more crimes.
