Was my social worker's two reactions as stated above appropriate for a mental health professional to express?

Hard to say, as to meeting with your daughter that sounds reasonable, and maybe with some more explanation the social worker will agree. Hopefully so. Does the social worker know your daughter? Do they have history? And if this is being paid by government or insurance would it be covered?

As to the day off, that does sound a bit cold, but social workers are just like everyone else. They need time off.

Best of luck with this, I hope you are able to console your daughter. It's clear you care and are trying, that's a good sign.
