Trial of dining out vouchers

The NSW Government is gifting every adult $100 to spend on dining and entertainment in a bid to resuscitate some of the sectors hit hardest by COVID-19.

Everyone over the age of 18 will be given four $25 vouchers under the NSW Budget's Out and About scheme. The vouchers can't be used on retail, alcohol, gambling or cigarettes. The program will be trialled in December before a full rollout next year……

Wow, just wow.

Looking at that picture, that would be the day where I'd entertain going out to eat.

What are your thoughts related to, Mellow?
I think it's a shocking waste of money Aunt Marg, our state is already up to its neck in debt but I guess the government know what they're doing (yeah, right)

We had similar when we re-opened last Autumn and before we were locked back down again....

The vouchers could only be used on Monday , Tuesday or Wednesday... so when we went to our favourite pub for lunch on Friday willing to pay full price, we were told that there was nothing on the menu..when we asked why, they explained that they were just so many people turning up on Voucher day they didn't think it was worth cooking on other days... that's fact!!

Another thing about the one that hollydolly mentioned above was
that the offer was £10 off a meal and many establishments in London
were issuing a bill and demanding payment after each course, so that
they received £30 for each meal instead of £10.

That caused an early re-think about the offer.

Those skinny people are going to eat a whole pizza each? Wow! I only eat one slice of pizza. Maybe that’s why I’m fat, I am not eating enough 😂

It seems to be human nature, than once one is in debt, it becomes that much easier to accrue more debt. Any of the debt level reporting sites will show that rather clearly, both in numbers and in text if they have articles on how to get out of debt. This is why my wife and I make it a rule not to be broken, that at the end of the month, our credit cards are at zero and that we don't borrow money.

Since the government is made up of humans, it does seem to follow that human nature will prevail. I suspect that when an entire country is the focus, the numbers are too large for anyone to comprehend, and possibly become meaningless to those holding the purse strings. This is just a guess on my part, but it does seem that way at times.

Edit: My comments are not intended to justify this sort of behavior. I personally think it is inexcusable. However, this is how I see it so it makes any kind of sense at all.
