Tulsa, Okla., Police Officer Betty Shelby, who shot an unarmed man last week, will be charged with first-degree manslaughter.

Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler made the decision to charge Shelby on Thursday, announcing it at a press conference with reporters.

"In the matter of the death of Terence Crutcher I determined that the filing of the felony crime of manslaughter in the first degree agonist Tulsa police officer Betty Shelby is warranted," said Kunzweiler.

Last week, Crutcher was shot and killed by Shelby after police responded to reports of an abandoned vehicle. The video of the incident shows the black man with his hands up moments before he was shot.

I heard that too. I guess it was good that she was charged with something, and so promptly, but that won't bring him back to his family. Lots of work needs to be done in this area, ASAP.

Manslaughter is attainable/realistic. She didn't set out the day to kill and weaponless suspect but she were reckless to stay the least. This is better than over charging for murder and winding up with a not guilty verdict.
