Tussle with the cable company

DD got tired of the regular (and outrageous) price increases for cable. They'd had it as part of their phone bundle, switched to DirecTV at a lower cost and guaranteed charge for a two-year contract. There was a limit on the number of TVs that could be connected, and I was left out.

I had Sling TV and liked it except for the frozen screen problem (which only seemed to happen when there was something really interesting that I was watching!).

At the end of the two-year contract with DirecTV, the price increase was steep so they joined the masses and cut the cord. After a good bit of research about which streaming service provided the best value and most channels, DSIL chose Hulu. We're all on Hulu now. It's cheap, reliable and as easy to use as any other service. Not sure but think the cost is around $60/month, maybe less, and if you want to add specialty channels like HBO or Showtime, you can pay a bit more and get those, too. We get all the local channels, too, of course.

All you need in order to sign up with a streaming service is an internet connection. If you're intimidated by the technical requirements, just call the number provided and ask them to walk you through signing up.

There's really no reason to pay the exorbitant costs charged by cable services.
