TV Adverts

As I age, I grow less and less tolerant of adverts and commercials. Watching/listening are a waste of my time and that is now my most valuable possession.

The ad I can't stand is for Shriner's Hospital. Before people start to surround my house with pitch forks, I think the Shriners do a great job. It's that ad is on 236 times a day. DAY IN, DAY OUT!!!!!! Talk about over kill. The ad is on TV as I type this. AHHHHHH!!!!!!!

My "pet peeve" is the endless "ask your doctor" drug ads. The Only two nations that allow this trash to be broadcasted are the U.S. and New Zealand....all other nations have banned this propaganda. Estimates go as high as 10 billion dollars per year spent by the drug companies, and you can guess who ultimately pays for that. If our government were ever to get serious about lowering the costs of medical care here, a real good place to start, IMO, would be to remove this burden on our nation's people. I can't imagine anyone silly enough to rush to their doctor and demand a prescription based upon the stupidity contained in one of these ads.

Yeah...they overdo it & it becomes a nuisance. I love animals, but that SPCA ad that lasts 10-15 minutes?

Yeah, you can "ask your doctor" but the insurance company doesn't want to pay for these fancy new drugs. If you're lucky, they're Tier 3 and you only have to cough up a $100 for them. Some aren't even on your formulary at all and you really get zinged for them. Then people get mad at the doctor's office for prescribing them, like I did last week when I found out that the drops they had prescribed would cost me $325.

LOL - like your doctor wouldn't already know if you need more drugs....

I think the network and cable channels should all change their "call letters" to NBC....Nothing But Commercials.
