TV outage

After a 2-day winter storm with mixed wintry percip and high winds, there is a regional outage of cable sevices. From the buzz on Facebook, I take it that most people do not have TV service, but do have phone and Internet (as is my situation) and it would be "some time" before the situation is resolved. Good thing I have a book to read later.

Why would just TV be affected for most customers and all services for others? Here is a map of the outage area:

A FB friend in Ohio had no internet for a while, still no TV. My cable is down. I have phone and internet. Interesting that it is inconsistent as to what people have lost.
I am catching up on some streaming TV though. How much snow did you get? I got about 8 or 9 inches. Spread over two days.

It started out as rain on Thursday, then turned into freezing rain overnight. Yesterday we got about 2 inches of snow over that. Icicles were hanging from the power and cable lines and I was worried, especially with the wind. The wind was so strong here that it blew snow INSIDE of the back door! Ice UNDER snow is the WORST - very slippery.

Possible cause. If you're not aware, your cable service isn't wired from some control room to your house. They pick up programs with huge dish antennas. It's possible the dishes took a hit, or whatever feeds them/or they send to, took a hit. Internet and VOIP could be fine, but no TV.

Started as ice here too. Then the snow, I am glad I bought those studs for the bottoms of my shoes. The helped a lot

I forgot to mention in my previous post, all was fine with my TV reception until 2 pm this afternoon when it went blank
My TV reception came back on at 7pm,I hope others got their back too
I'll be interested to learn what caused this outage

I ck'd online to see what caused yesterday's TV outage
According to Spectrum's website 'their fiber optic network' was the culprit
