Two Milwaukee Children Shot After Throwing Snowballs at Cars

Living in the UK we have a serious knife problem and attacks on people and this is increasing at an alarming rate. Gun usage is a serious issue too and firearms are kept for personal use but not as prolific as the the united States but getting there it seems.

What are the penalties re firearm usage by the populace and does it vary from State to State? What about Canada do they have a serious problem too?

In the US, penalties vary from state to state, and also depending on the crime. For instance, robbing a bank might get you x number of years, but if a firearm is involved, it will get you x+ years.

I don't think the person should have shot at them but they should have had better sense than to be throwing snowballs at cars. Some people's cars are worth more than my house and they sure wouldn't want any damage done to them. Or what if somehow a snowball caused an accident? A couple years ago we had problems with teens throwing frozen turkeys off overpasses onto moving cars. I wonder if they started out throwing snowballs? Parents need to teach their kids that the streets are full of nutcases and there is no way we are going to get them all off the streets. Be careful out there and don't do things to antagonize people.

No doubt about it; throwing snowballs at cars is dangerous, BUT it doesn’t deserve being shot.

During my career, I arrested two (3) individuals in two (2) separate incidents for dropping stones down onto vehicles from overhead bridges and onto the freeways with one resulting in a very serious injury. This case was just settled earlier in 2019. The defendant was given 3-5 years in state prison and a $10,000.00 fine, plus restitution for medical treatments.

@911

We've had several of those cases over the years. Some serious injuries - one man was permanently blinded. I can't fathom what goes on in someone's mind to make them throw rocks at traffic on an overpass. 😠
